i went on a wander

Dear Diary,

i was with the following for a good portion of the day yesterday:

jeff: ooh, i like bounded tits

I went for a wander downtown Portland in the afternoon, around three. I read Great Expectations on the way in, though this gay couple were ragging on people in the seat behind me. It was all I could do to contain my giggles. There are these notebooks they sell at Finnegan's Toys that have hologram pictures on the fronts of them, and I knew for a fact that there was a really great one with Jesus on the cover, pointing at his Sacred Heart with cherubs all in the clouds in the background, with HOLOGRAM action. I bought it and a green pen with which to write in it. I plunked myself down in Pioneer Square to check out the ASSORTED KIDS (originally this said "alternateens" and people got mad. i'm not taking the word out because there's really no reason to, i'm just stressing what i meant) as they performed their little punk/indie/emo/raver/streetkid/housekid mating rituals. I love to watch them prance about in their pins and beads and buttons and baubles, spikes and whathaveyou catching the sun and sparkling in a way grungy kids aren't made to do.

So I called Christen from the square. She, Bridgete, and Jamie were down at the waterfront, so I met them. More of my wander. I called Jeff just before five, he said he'd meet me at the Square. Christen offered her dad to drive me up there, so we wandered all together to the parkinglot. We were stopped on the way by a fellow who said Amen at the end of every statement. I gave him a dollar for the shelters he was talking about. He had a bucket full of suckers, but he didn't give me one, even though I was eyeing it with desire.

I met Jeff when he got in, I was sitting at the ass end of the Lewis and Clark Trail cow on the north side of the square. Sitting on the north side of the square, I almost always feel like I'm facing south. Go figure.

We wandered to Spartacus and Borders, and several parks. Jeff drew me a picture of a cow in the park. The policeman liked it.

He likes my new lipring which is a horseshoe barbell. I like it, too, but it's too big I think. When I get money, I'll buy a smaller one.

Speaking of my lip ring, we were in a park on the PSU campus, and I was hiding in my cardigan (yellow cableknit wool St. Vincent DePaul 10cent Mondays find), and managed to get my lipring caught on the inside of the cardigan. Color me dorky.

He drove me home from his house in Vancouver, and we got miserably lost along the way, and I'm sure he thought I was terribly irritated with him or something the whole ride, but I'm afraid of cars, and I had to pee.

Everyone knows I'm afraid of cars, especially at night, which it was by that point.

He got coffee in Beaverton. We just talked forever everywhere we were. I appreciate that.

So I'm listening to Bright Eyes loudly and my mother was pissed at me for coming home at one am today. Oh well, she's not so big.

And Bright Eyes only sounds good loud.

Face the music.

Love, Linsay
