stickshifts and safetybelts

Okay so I got this car. It's a 1988 Subaru DL-4 wagon with manual transmission. I do not know fully how to drive a stick. This is an adventure. I'm beginning to get really discouraged and stuff about ever being fully competent. I do okay in the neighborhoods and stuff, so I'm like, hey, let's try something new and drive all the way to the goddamn mall!

Cory and I decide that I will drive the car to the mall. I'm feeling pretty confident, I don't kill anyone while backing up, and we're on our way. I kill the car at the first stopsign we come to. And at the third. Shortly after the third stop, the car pops out of gear and I don't know what to do so I pull off onto the side of the road in front of the Walgreen's, turn my hazards on because it's night and somebody might hit me, and then I start to cry. Not really. My safety belt also won't freaking lock and I'm getting nervous that my seatbelts don't work and that's not good at all. It finally clicked though. I think I was just being spastic, as per usual. But Cory does refuse to drive to the mall, saying that I need to learn this. So I say fine and we go to the back road to the mall and take it. I kill the car at most but not all of the stop signs we come to, and at one intersection, I killed it about four times in a row. I even drove on the freeway and downshifted once and did a-okay there. When we got to the mall, there were a lot of cars and I failed the parking mission. So I made Cory park. I also made him drive us home. It was raining really bad. I really hope that it's clear while I'm at home because I really need to just figure out the damn balance between clutch and gas before I try to do anything!

Also: my breaks are touchy and my transmission is loud because it's going to go out soon.

I like my car pretty much, I just need some serious help.

Now it's time for PANTS!!
